Can't start 2009 M696

Hi,

I'm just finishing putting my 2009 M696 back together after being off the road for almost a year having been hit by a car. It required a new Trelis frame, forks, front wheel, and a few other parts. Now a red frame with the white panels - should look sharp!

All the electrics seem to work OK except I can't get the starter to turn the engine over - I'm trying to Oil pressure up before starting. All I get it a heaving clicking. Could it be that I have connected something incorrectly? Could the batter have gone bad? (I have ordered a new Gel Battery). I don't have thge gas tank on so could the fuel pump not being connected make a difference?

Any thoughts or suggestions to test the system would be appreciated as I've got to get this bike on the road before the summer is gone!

Thanks,

Ian

Wouln't it be completely dead if it were the kickstand switch. I do get this Heavy clicking noise like it's a solenoid or something.

It Turns over

After 24 hours on charge the battery is not fully charged so I think iy's safe to say that there is a battery problem. Having said that with a bit more charge it will now turn the engine over slowly. With no fuel connected I wasn't going for a start, but just to crank it over, which it now does, so the electrical connections must be OK.

I'll let you know hoe it goes with a new battery and some fuel!
