Question 2009 1100s gearing

Just bout my first new Ducati, love the bike but.
First gear is way to tall for around town, so I am planning a gear change thinking 1 tooth up front or 2 in the back.
Has anyone made a gear change and what did you change it too?

Thanks

almost everyone with a monster goes to a 14t on the front sprocket (cheaper than replacing the rear, and you wont need a new chain)
bike runs much better that way.
when your chain is ready to be replaced, you can go back to a 15 and up 2 in the rear instead.
if the 1100 comes with a 525 you may want to convert to a 520 then as well...

What's the advantage of converting to a 520? I thought 520 is standard for 696 and thus it's not for a higher power bike like the 1100s? I'm just curious. Thanks.

the 520 chain is lighter (and a little cheaper)
def. not a problem to keep the 525 chain, but many people think it is overkill on bikes with <100hp.
