ST based frame v non-ST based

I'm thinking of selling my 620 and looking for either an m1000 or an older 900 that I can happily hack up any way I want and not feel bad about it but see here's the thing - when I compare how my '99 750 handled to the way my 620 handles there's just no comparison. I've always felt more confident tipping the 620 into a corner at speed than I did on the 750 - is it just me or do the ST derived monsters handle better ?

Do the older S version 900's handle just as well as the current crop ?

I can't say if they handle better, having never ridden the older Monsters. But the frame geometry suggests that the newer bikes are more stabil. That stability can lend confidence which in turn can make a rider more willing to corner aggressively.

I don't know about geometry changes, but the newer frames are beefier & heavier than the old ones. They weigh almost 10# more & used bigger down tubes. All that being said, there is no reason for an older frame to "not inspire confidence". You just need to have it set up properly. Nichols motor mount bolts also help.
