Idle RPM Monster 800

Hi all

just got my 2005 800 back from its first service and I noticed it is idling a little higher. Interested to know other people's experience in "post first service" idling. Before the service it was about 800rpm now it seems to be more like 1200rpm.

Any feedback appreciated.

Re: Idle RPM Monster 800

Sounds like your dealer adjusted the idle. 800 RPM is too low.

Re: Idle RPM Monster 800

With my '03 M800, idling below 1000rpm results in the engine cutting out.

Re: Idle RPM Monster 800

My 03 800 has always idled below 1000rpm. Make sure there is some freeplay in the throttle cable, fast idle assembly. Start your bike up and turn the handlebars fully from side to side there should be no change in idle speed. Once your bike is broken in the range IMO should be between 800/1000 rpm.

Re: Idle RPM Monster 800

I had to have the idle adjusted a few times. Now with 11,000 miles on the bike it seems a bit happier and holds at 1,000 RPM.

Re: Idle RPM Monster 800

Thanks all....the bike seems much happier now at about 1000 - 1100. I guess I will see how it goes over the next few months.

thanks again
