I have been using the Shoei and ICON helmets since a long time now and I feel they are one of the best helmets available in the market currently. My favourite ones are the Airmada series from ICON. Though these are a bit expensive, but since I shop online, I usually get them at good discounts. They are light in weight and very aerodynamic which makes them my favourites.

Scorpion, they have an inner sun visor and the cheek pads are air adjusted. I rode through some of the worst rain this summer . The visor didn't fog nor the helmet didn't leak. I wear a EXO 1100 and my next helmet will be another Scorpion.

Shoei.

First one was the RF-1100 in black.

Current one is the RF-1200 Valkyrie.

I also have a Bilt, but don't remember the variety.

RF-1200 and the 1100 fit me well.

The recommendation is to try on as many as you can, and find one that fits your budget, but most importantly YOUR head shape well. Too many people out there with ill fitting helmets, usually purchased one or two sizes too big, or purchased due to the pretty graphics rather than proper fit and protective qualities.

I'm at the opposite end of head shape, and I too have problems finding helmets that fit me well.

For my round-ish head my Soumy Excel (now renamed the 'Apex') fits me well and comfortably (i.e. a tiny bit loose) for commuting. Also, my Schuberth SR-1 fits me well and very snugly for track and fun rides.

I bought myself a Nexx carbon fiber helmet. I went with Nexx because they INCLUDE extra foam inserts and such to help make the helmet fit you perfectly. I was not impressed at all when I went to drop almost $700 on a Shoei and I was stuck needing a medium helmet with thinner check pads. Yeah yeah small head fat cheeks. When I saw that I could buy the lightest helmet made for less money than a Shoei and they include parts to make it fit better, yeah that won my money. I called Shoei to see if they would swap pads with me, the guy says sure for $30. F that. Honestly it's styrofoam and fiberglass, there isn't that much of a difference between a $100 helmet and a $700 helmet, there is plenty of room in the mark up to make adjustments to and improve customer relations.
