The search is finally over! Found a black S4RS

After a very long absence from riding and searching for a Black S4RS, I finally found one. After striking out on finding a Black S4RS that fit my requirements for years, I was pretty much set on getting a V4R. But low and behold, I finally found one this past weekend. After a couple of days searching on the internet for modifications, seems like the cons of buying an old bike is that the options are slim, esp. when it comes to an exhaust system. Very limited availability due to most of the brands aren't producing any and none of them really impress me. Either aesthetically, they don't look right on an S4RS or it's just a slip on. Also, finding OEM parts like carbon fiber or a DP ECU is pretty much ending up with zero results. This monster might end up being dead stock.

Anyways, there was a post recently on some common problems with this model such as the quick disconnects, stock regulator rectifier, and crankcase breather. Any other problems I should attend to? I'm already planning to Caswell coat the tank.

You don't need an actual DP ECU. You can get your existing chip reflashed for much less money.

I don't know what your taste in exhausts is, but I bought Arrow race pipes and an SC project OVAL R60 / CARBON FIBER / D07-07C muffler. Had a link pipe made up.

My hugger was missing when purchased - replaced with Ducati MS4R Monster rear carbon fiber fender mudguard 96965203B NEW flat style

Didn't like stock ducktail or the idea of a tailchop - bought Fullsix Ducati Monster S2R S4R Carbon Fibre Tail Tray - Gloss

You can still find Arrow setups.
Full racing exhausts.. Carbon fiber.. Titanium..

The price hasn't gone down very much on them but they're available.
Look on eBay.
