Maintenance is important on Ducatis; you'll want to see records of proper maintenance.
The only significant mechanical differences from "normal" are the desmo valve setup and the dry clutch.
The dry clutch does not need any special attention.
The desmo valves need to be checked regularly, and the cambelts replaced every 12K miles or two years, whichever comes first.
It probably has a plastic gas tank, which can be problematic.
