1997 Ducati M400/M600 Timing Belts

Hi All

I wondered if somebody could assist me with some information.
I need to replace my timing belts on my M400, but cannot find a detailed specification for the belts.
I have placed my order in by a Ducati dealership, the only one around here, and they cannot tell me when they will arrive.
They will not even assist me with specifications for the belt so that i can look elsewhere.

I had found a chap here that makes belts, and can have them delivered to me within days, but i need to supply him size & teeth numbers. I have searched the net high & low for such information, but cannot find anything. I was hoping that somebody over here would be so kind enough to share that kind of information, or guide me in the direction to obtain such information.

The size is for a M400, but i was informed by the dealership that M600 belts will fit just fine on my baby.

Thanking you guys in advance

From what I understand, the 400 is just a 'sleeved down' 600, which would lead me to believe that the belts will be the same. Happy to stand corrected on that, though.

You are 100% correct on that, i believe they were produced for the eastern market.

Well, that looks like it solves your issue - jump on eBay and order a set of M600 belts and ditch these losers at your local dealership 😛

Hi Guys

I have accidentally found something.
The 1997 Ducati M400 & M600 use a 68T Square Toothed, French product code TBF1

Hope it helps somebody

Okay guys, good news, i have found local belts @ US$5.00 a belt compared to US$84.00 per belt (dealership price, & wait for six weeks).
the search was not easy, as i had thrown dimensions to the guys & all say they have never heard of that belt.
Then i clicked, the bike is a import, imperial sizes you twit not metric sizes. So found a place that does imperial timing belts.

Now for the FYI bit for future venturers.
Imperial Sizes, 68 square toothed, pitch 0.3751969 inches(9.53mm), length to be 25.5 inches(647.7mm), width 0.748031 inches(19mm)

I hope this helps, for my future adventures i may order online in advance, or if i like the newly bought belts, I'll just order from them again.
