Question Location of 30A Fuse - Shorted bike :-(

Hi everyone - I shorted my '09 696 trying to install a GPS tracker (connecting it to the red and black connection on the diagnostic cable, under the seat...) at the weekend, and now the bike won't power up at all. I've been told to first try replacing the bike's main 30 Amp Fuse ... but even with the manual and diagram, I can't find where this is. (It's not in the main fuse box - they're all fine).

I'm suspecting it's this bit in the manual -- "Electronic voltage regulator (rectifier), protected by a 30 A fuse located next to the ECU (2, fig. 105)."

Can someone help me pinpoint this please? Can I get to it without having to remove the fuel tank, etc. ?!

Is this likely to be the source of the issue?!

Thanks in advance!

Richard

I've heard of guys smoking their ECU doing what you did. I hope that's not the case.

If that's true, then the 30A fuse isn't doing it's job. I do believe it, though.
