Monster 1200 R does not seem to be available for 2020 as it's no longer on Ducati's website.
Will probably be superseded by the new Streefighter.
Looks like I'll be keeping my R for awhile.

I loved the look of the older Streetfigther but the design of this new iteration does not do it for me. Too much beak.
Perhaps it's just because of the race version without headlights. Hopefully the final street version will look better. It may needs a small fairing like the Tuono IMO. Moreover, those Akras are fugly. I liked the double barrels on the original.

Not with that new delta box frame and fairing-tank bridging.

Pani V4, SF V4 and most probably the mts...****'s starting to look like all other bikes out there due to those 2 new (to Ducati) elements.

If the next monster has a delta box frame i'm gonna start looking elsewhere for my bike porn fix

Yeah, I remember that which was really stupid as the hardware between both models were identical. The power difference was ECU map related. Just Ducati trying a cash grab to justify the "S" price. Really didn't work as adding a Termi and upmap equalized both models.

More than enough power indeed. Here's a bit of relative trivia I found on the topic.
In 1990, the KAWASAKI ZZ-R1100 was the fastest production bike in the world with 147 HP.
When liter-bikes entered the SuperBike class at the turn of the 1980 decade, they were producing about 140 HP in race form which is about what a current Ducati Monster puts-out.

The monster hasn't looked right to me since they gave it the rework in 2009. So much plastic and toy like design twists.

The streetfighter maintained the same frame proportions and looks more like the old monster to me.. As such I'm not too tearful about this decision. In fact I always had a sneaking suspicion that the 'cartoony' looking monster changes were intentional, to split it away from the streetfighter, as they looked very similar for a couple of years.

It would suck if I liked the newer monsters styling though, I can see that..

The Streetfighter is no longer held together by a Trellis frame. it has moved-on.
We'll find out this week what will become the look of the new Streetfighter in production form.

I guess we all got to see the new models this week,
V4 Streetfighter with 208-220HP. Awesome!!.
Really, bikes with wings.......Should have named it 'The Red Baron', he.he.
Definitely does not resemble a Monster any more, frame and engine from Panigale etc.

The Monsters are back on Ducati site, yes, same engine specs for both 1200 and 1200S but difference is mainly suspension, with the 1200S getting Ohlins.

There was a hint that more new models will be released next year, so V4 Monster maybe??

Hi Ronski, I was a bit disappointed in the V4 Streetfighter. I liked the older style with the trellis frame and the double barrel exhaust.
Oh well, got to move on.
I was also expecting a small fairing like the Tuono. 168 mph without one is just nuts.

We were told the Multistrada was going V4 in 2021 but Ducati is keeping the V2 alive.
The new Panigale V2 as the successor to the 959 really looks awesome.
I think the Monster will remain a V2 but who knows?

with you guys on the older style bikes, when the engine and exhaust had form and added to the character of the machine. Now it seems everything is just cramped into a box under the seat, can't even tell where the heads or barrels are anymore. Exhaust has become another fugly box thing.
way too old now for 200 Hp. (even 140hp). Guess I will be keeping the old monster:smile

wish they had left it as this.

No..... & Yes.... If you have the 1200/1200s the full Termi comes with the 59mm head pipes & cans. If you have the 1200R the 59mm head pipes are already there, you just need the slip ons.....
