As for earplugs, I actually wanted to ask, I've always thought that wearing earplugs I won't be able to hear cars near me or if someone is honking at me? I'm just thinking it could be more dangerous, or my thinking is wrong?
I find I'm actually more keen because earplugs (I just wear foam disposables...which also happen to have one of the highest noise reduction ratings) get rid of the trash noises that distract.
In particular, high frequencies such as wind noise. Which is what kills your hearing anyways. Cars and other things I want to hear I hear just as well as I did without plugs.
The best ones are the soft foam ones ..... buy them by the dozen ... dont get the hard ones ..... use them a few times then discard ..... earplugs get dirty very easy ...
You should not have any problems with you audio .... maybe raise the volume a little
Thanks again, that's awesome, I will try some foam earplugs on my next ride, disposable ones sound great to me.
I have a set of custom moulded earplugs. You have to go to a place that does them and they inject a substance into the ear that moulds to your shape.
However, the soft foam ones are good as well.
As others have said, you actually hear better with them in as it filters out all the really crappy noise. So traffic noise is fine, sirens are fine, wind is lowered, engine is sweeter
Your in-helmet speakers will work just fine with them, just need it at a higher volume.
Thanks, great to know you guys are also using in-helmet speakers. Custom molded earplugs are probably more comfortable, but not sure where I can get them locally though. I will try some soft foam ones first.
Thanks, the local online store also has these and the Meteors. They have so many it's starting to get confusing. According to Moldex's website, it seems like the Meteors should be the most comfortable. I guess I will try all of them since I can get them in single pairs.
To be honest, I didn't try them all. The pura-fits worked well and were comfy even after a full day of riding so I bought a box of 'em and have been using them for the last four years or so. Still have plenty left in my box of 200, I use 'em for 5 or so rides before tossing them.
