So, hey guys. There seems to be a lack of solid info on this setup and what exactly is needed to make it work and look the way it should. The example above proves that it can be done but the positioning of muffler seemed off to me, as though it's not angled upwards enough.
Let me back up. I picked up an 1100 Evo a couple months ago and after looking at exhausts, the only one that interested me was the CW because it allowed for elimination of the never-used passenger pegs. I had been waiting to pick one up (I mean, it's not like they're going anywhere), and in the meantime I stumbled into this thread, and boy am I glad I did. The Termi setup for the Evo was one I pretty quickly discounted because I don't find it terribly attractive nor is it reasonably affordable. Which is a shame, because Duc and Termi go together like PB & J.
So long story short, I took the leap after finding a decent deal on the Ebay. It showed up yesterday, as described, and my excitement to get it on the bike quickly faded as I discovered that out of the box, that's basically impossible. First of all, it wouldn't fit over/into the stock connector without some heavy coaxing, which I didn't bother with because secondly, that would position it directly into the rear wheel.
Instead, I took the bike over to a trusted exhaust shop. Here's what needed to happen:
1. They fabbed a new connector to transition between the stock header and the Termi unit, which both acts as a sizing adaptor AND repositions the can so it aims more outward and upward. The positioning is pretty subjective, and I went with what looked good to me, obviously.
2. This is the bigger one. The bracket attached to the exhaust is so far forward that to position the can properly would put the mounting hole behind/forward of the brake pedal/mount. I'm not getting super descriptive here except to say that it would be difficult to accommodate it in that position, so some surgery was required. We cut essentially the whole bracket off, then rewelded just the endpoint so that it was directly above the muffler instead of far in front. This allowed for a new bracket to be created that, similar to the CW one, hangs off the bolts for the heel guard.
Anyway, it all works, and it sounds INCREDIBLE. With the additional work it ended up being a bit more costly than the CW (I would've opted for one of the custom-order finishes) but damn, worth it.
TL-DR: see photo. I'm getting a matching clamp for the Termi side, so pardon that ugliness for now.
