So i have an 800 S2R 2006 and i removed the mufflers and "S" pipes so its just a catalytic converter or "udder" or "Bladder". Now this may be a dumb question so be easy on me...

Will this hurt my bike? i did it because it makes the bike sound heavenly and i noticed there are a few kits for non S2R models. Ex box something? idk

just want to make sure its not doing harm to my Monster

I've heard of folks running them like that, but never heard any long term results.

Personally I wouldn't do it. There is a science to exhaust tuning. You could decrease the performance.

And then yesterday a post was made in this thread about the owners bike running so lean his pipes began to run red hot and caused issues. http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/...help-s4rs.html Now that doesn't mean it can't work, just means you need to have the fueling adjusted to match. In general terms you should always consider a cause and effect when doing things to an engine. When you do something to one area, what do you need to do to to another area to get things back in order.

Forgot to mention i laid her down and got some insurance money to play with now so ill be adding a Power Commander 3 and two K&N cone filters to complete the setup. but like i said before i had no problems with the exhaust setup. that's not to say there was absolutely no power losses either. just none that i noticed. no lack in throttle response, sputter, backfire, popping ect.

So there you have it my experiment is complete. No use in buying Boom Tubes, or Exbox exhaust unless you have $1200 or so to spend making it look even more beautiful. which i wouldn't blame you for. besides i didn't buy this bike so i could have the fastest bike on the street. i bought it because its drop dead gorgeous and i love that V-Twin Desmo sound! and really i think the guys who go the route of short pipes would agree, the sound is worth it.
