I recently purchased a 2005 M620ie Monster with 12,000 miles. I love this little Duc, but the clutch engagement is almost immediate making leaving from a stop harder than it should be. Is this normal? Otherwise, the clutch seems to work just fine. If it is not normal, how can this condition be improved?
Do a search in this forum , others have had this issue also. That's a wet clutch, right ? I'm not personally familiar with them. I know some have a small adjustment screw in the lever that may affect this.
You just need to adapt. Careful bleeding might make is a little better, but not much. It becomes 2nd nature after a while. My CRF450R Supermoto is the same way, and I hate it! Why Ducati put a "light switch clutch" in their bikes I will never know.
I previously had an 05 620 as well and the clutch action was very similar to a light switch as well. It was a fun bike, it just took a a little while to adjust to it as I was used to my dirt bikes that had a more linear clutch pull. I don't know if it was just mine or is a common thing but I noticed that I would have to squeeze the clutch lever a time or two before dropping it into gear if it sat overnight or longer. Otherwise it would stall when I dropped it into gear to take off, it would only happen after sitting overnight or longer. As a side note I just bought an 01 900 and was worried a bit about the dry clutch and found that it's action and engagement is actually better than the 620's was...go figure. Anyway that 620 was a really fun bike enjoy!
