Exclamation Bike running on 1 cylinder and smoke.

So this morning my bike was having a hard time starting and I couldn't figure out why. Also when I was trying to start it towards the end I saw some smoke coming from the right side plastic pod thing that sits towards the front of the frame. What could that have been?
And earlier (about 20 minutes ago) I went outside to see if it would start and it did but sounded funny and after about 30 seconds of idling I put my hand next to each cylinder and the horizontal one was hot and the vertical was cold. So obviously it was running on 1 cylinder. What can I do to fix it? And just to get a question answered is it alright to still ride it or would that be bad?

Just got the vertical cylinder running again but I was still curious about the smoke coming from the right pod. It only happened once but I'm just curious as to what it was.

Probably a backfire. The pods are a place for the carbs to vent through. Basically the charcoal canister of the day.

Glad you got the cylinder running. You used me favorite high tech method of diagnostics.

Ohhhh, that makes sense. I saw there were lines running from the carbs and wondered why. Thanks! And yeah, I remembered you had mentioned that in another thread and decided to use it. ha
