Swapped tank, won't start

Swapped a tank from an '05 S4R onto my '02 750.

Reinstalled the same gauge, pump, filter in the new tank... reattached hoses. Crank, but no growl. Spark is good. 20A fuse to the pump is fine. There's a little gas sloshing around...

Thoughts?

does the pump spin up?
are the hoses (delivery/return) correct?
it might take some cranking to get the fuel primed and going thru the line

FYI- i had a similar issue on mine, and it turned out to be the hose came off the pump, might check that too
