What connector is this?

Hi everyone!im new here and I just purchased a 95 m900 with a bad starter a few days ago. Upon removing the left engine cover, I noticed a loose connector that runs into the main harness. It's a 2 wire connector located in front of the left engine case. If anyone can tell me what this connector is for, I will be truly grateful. Thanks in advance!

Kind of looks like the side stand safety switch connector.

I could be wrong. Should be another wire set with the corrosponding connector. Anything else hanging around not plugged in?

Hmm, the bike doesn't have a safety switch installed. Did these have one back in 1995?

There is a LIGHT only for the kick stand -
Just lets you know it is DOWN - no effect on running though...
I have a 95 monster...

Yes - I have that same plug that the other end of which runs to the kickstand DOWN light...
Do you have that goofy "reverse" kickstand on your bike - the one that that springs BACK into the frame when you stand her up??? After 3 years with it - I am scared to switch it!!

ahh....ok, i see where the switch USED to be mounted. looks like the previous owner removed it. thanks for your varification!!
