Starter Replacement help

Hello everyone.

Looking for help on replacing the starter motor on my 05 monster 1000. I ordered a starter, however, I was wondering if I will need a gasket for the side cover. I looked at my monster parts book and the only gasket that I see ins eeded is the starter motor gasket part# 788.1.054.1a.
What about the side cover? Does the side cover need a gasket? If so, does anyone have a part number?

Thanks,
Steve

It is a sealant, not a gasket.

Item Name:
LIQUID GASKET

Item Number:
942470014

Qty: Price: 21.99

You can buy Yamabond 4 for less money. I use Yamabond all the time to seal dirtbike engine cases, bare metal to bare metal. I'm not a fan of the Permatex "grey, blue, or black" RTV sealants. They seem to be more of a silicone that is good for valve covers on cars. If you decide to use Permatex (because it's about $5 a huge tube and available at every auto parts store, home depot, and walmart) buy the grey as it seems to be more like Yamabond than the blue or black.

Page 18 shows the sealant being applied to the clutch side case. It's shown on the alternator side as well.
