Default Monster 1100 Evo Tire Change

So I ripped through the rear tire already (2,300 miles) and need to get it changed. I was looking in the manual and it says"

"Have tyres replaced at Authorized Ducati Dealer as Correct removal and installation of the wheels is essential,as some parts of the ABS (such as sensors and phonic wheels) are mounted to the wheels and require specific adjustment"

How valid is this statement?? Is there anything to worry about in taking the wheel off myself, having a local moto tire ship re-mount new rubber and reinstalling myself?

I wouldn't take my bike to a place that didn't have quite a bit of Ducati experience.

I don't for bigger items and the closest Ducati dealership is 50 miles away; not really doable for things like tire changes.

Getting there. I called the Ducati dealership and they said no worries about the ABS, just be careful. Bought myself the 46MM socket (had to order online as no store had one). Just waiting for that to come in and then get down to business!

So it's a 46MM socket to remove the rear tire? How hard was the replacement on a single sided swing arm?

Yeah, had to order on-line as Sears just does not carry a 46MM socket. No big issues with the change. Just removed the nut and the spacer from the wheel; but you have to remove the exhaust as well...which is not hard, just a nuisance. Just loosen the clamp and undo a bolt and you're done.

Putting back on the newly mounted rubber took no more than 5 minutes. The torque value for the nut is 130 ft/ lb's according to the Ducati Dealership.

Very nice! Any issues with the replacing the front tire? This is my 1st Monster and I am only use to working on japanese sport bikes. Sounds easier than my R1 (at least for the rear tire)Thx in advance!
