Default Twitchy Throttle

Hey all,

After riding my 696 Monster a few times, on more than one occasion, found the throttle can be very twitchy on me. Is there anything I can buy to resolve this issue or just learn to deal with it?

Some people swear by Throttle Tamer: http://www.g2ergo.com/g2-tamer-throttle-tubes-720.html

Isn't this supposed to be a duc n monster thing. Extra responsive throttle. If want to ride smooth need better throttle control than alot of other jap bikes etc. A highlight of riding a duc for many?

Yes Nube there are some that actually think of it as a benefit of owning a Ducati and actually enjoy the throttle response of an aggressive bike. I'm guilty of it myself, and I read in your last post that you feel you've grown to like it in your M600.

Out of the box the Monsters are indeed rather twitchy...strap on some exhaust cans and without changing anything else you will have a lot of lean pops and increased chugging at low rpm. I assume you're speaking about the chugging and eratic throttle below 4000 rpm? I have the M1100 and have done much work on the fuel system to increase driveabilty down to 2000 rpm. The replacement of the factory ECU with either a DP ECU or having the stock one reflashed is required, and the addition of a PC V to control the closed loop portion of the fueling. If you don't change the ECU the PC V cannot control the closed loop portion up to 5000 rpm and only tunes above that mark. They include the o2 optimizer with the PCV but this is only a work around for the closed loop portion. I went one step further and added the wideband o2 sensors and AutoTune from Pwr Cmdr. Now the bike has smooth and crisp throttle across the entire rpm range.

If you really want to let the bike breath, look into the Power Up Kit from Intake Express...its worth every penny IMHO.

A friend of mine remaps cars & he now has all the codes/leads/programs to do bikes. He is going to do mine in a couple of weeks, do do you recommend he does other than the usual?

The changes made to mine included removal of the factory lambda sensor monitoring, exhaust servo monitoring removed, increased rev limit from 8500 to 9500 rpm. All my fuel tunning is now done via PCV and AutoTune with wideband o2 sensors.
