Default Weird problem with Gauges on M750

Have a problem with the gauges on an 02 M750 Dark.
The needles of both tach and speedo are not in the correct place to start. With the key turned off, the tach needle is at 9500RPM, the speedo needle points almost straight down. When i turn on the key, they both sweep through, but start and return to these places.
I took the gauges apart and reset the needles to the right place, but within 20 minutes of riding they get all weird again.
I have the red key, if that can be of any help, but am looking for some help to diag and fix this.
Any ideas???

Default Needles

I have had theis problem before. If you can reset your needles then they are not tight enough to stay there long .
These needles are usually secured with a drop of glue. Some sets I have had apart do not have glued on needles. It like it when I find these because you can take these apart completely, whereas the glued on needles are a dead end when you can't get them off. Unforunately, they need a half drop of superglue of something to maintain their position on the road and not get juggled loose from vibration.
Remember when you glue them on, they will be set slightly below the zero when off, only return to zero with key "ON".
They best way I found is to take the glass cover off, plug gauges back in temporarily, and experiment where the correct setting is before you get the glue out. Be extremely careful not to use too much glue or get to it anywhere but inside the needle. You have a few seconds before it dries to move it once again if it still isn't going to zero when you turn key on.
