What is your going rate and turnaround to fix the seeping hinge? No hurry just wanted to know what to expect.
Do you braze and seal?
I am new to Owning a DUC and to this website and unfortunately my 02 monster 900 IE is leaking (seeping Hinge).
I have in the past with other bikes stripped the paint to bare metal, sanded/scuffed/roughed up the area, clean with acetone heated with a blow dryer and applied JB Weld. The warmer the surface the thinner the jb weld gets and oozes into nooks and crannies.
In this case I was going to clean the whole hinge bracket area and about 1 inch around where possible then apply jb weld. I have found if you give it something to wrap around it helps it against vibrations.
I have done several blocks on dirt bikes where someone let the chain get to worn and it breaks and wears a grove into the case. so far I am 5 for 5 on successful repairs. with a year of riding afterwards on all 5. no leaks, no cracks.
I think the brazing may actually seep into the crack and seal the leak where jb weld just covers the crack and may allow gas to pool and speed up the rust process.
