Yes, and as long as they're both metal it will be a direct swap.

If it's a plastic newer tank it will fit, but you'll have to change the insides (pump/fuel sender) and hinge mount at the base of the tank.

You've listed the fuel pipes as 5/8" (8mm), should be 5/16" (8mm).

I'll post a pic from my '02 S4 showing the hinge and bracket later today.

Can we get some pictures of the undersides of the different tanks?

Specifically:
1. Plastic underside with good view of the fuel pump set up
2. Carbie tank with a good look at the fuel line connections
3. Injected tanks (various models) with a look at the shape and fuel line connections
3. different hinge styles (plastic Vs. metal)
4. Anything else that folks think is important / relevant

I have a metal tank in the garage which fits my S2r 1000. That would make it the later fuel injected metal tank. I will get some pics of the underside and post those up.

I'm having trouble visualizing where the fuel pump sits with the newer plastic tank? any pictures or descriptive words would be super. I have a 2005 plastic tank sitting at home that I bought off ebay that is from a 620 Monster according to the ad, the price was right, it was flat black and I was bored so I bought it (my 03 800Sie is yellow, and i sort of wanted a change) come to find out it is plastic, I just want to be able to comprehend my situation, what i need, cost and whatnot.

Elmer,

You can download the parts catalogue at ducati.com, pretty good pics in it.

Elmer
on the plastic tanks, the fuel pump is attached to the round metal plate on the bottom of the tank (inside, that is). as long as your tank came with the fuel pump, you are golden

but your gonna need a new hinge to attach the tank to the bike.
