Default S2R1000 surging

So my bike has 1200 miles on it and when I brought in for the 600 mile service I mentioned it but since then it has gotten worse and today it was bad.* Between 3800 rpm and 5300 rpm when the throttle is held at a steady rpm the bike engine seems to surge.* Has anyone had a similar experience?* I made an appointment to take it to BCM next week (120 miles away), but they said this is the first anybody has complained of something like this.* I'm a little concerned because there is not* much tuning you can do with the S2R1000 ECU.* Any thoughts...

PS My bike has stock exhaust, air filter, and ecu.

Sounds familiar. I've had similar trouble with my S2R 800, and it is a temperature related problem (maybe altitude too). See my post here:

(Hopefully this link works. I don't speak HTML too well.)

Surging is indicitive of a lean condition. If you are still under warranty, let BCM sort it out (and they will)...

If not, get your mods done, get a PCIII and then take it to BCM for a Dyno Tuning... [thumbsup]

Link does not provide an answer but here's my experience... I noticed this happening to me after I picked up my bike from the 600 mile service ('06 S2R). The shop had removed my carbon canister but instead of putting a M5 bolt to plug the throttle bodies they y'd the hoses together and stuck a bolt in the end of the hose. I removed the hoses and bolts, pluged the throttle body holes with M5 bolts and have not had a problem. It's been in the mid-80s and the bike temp is running around 210 since I've done this and I havn't had a problem in the 150+ miles I've put on this weekend.

yeah, if there was a leak........
and a legnth of hose changes the volume of the intake.
And y ing the hoses makes any vacuum differential exponentially worse.

My S2R1000 does something very similar. Light throttle held constant between 3000-4500 rpm the bike hesitates a little. Under normal acceleration, its very smooth with no surging or hesitation. I figured it was just a characteristic of the motor. Bike is stock accept for removal of emissions canister.

I don't know but the removal of the emission canister seems to be the only common connection. It hesitated ever so slightly prior to the 600 mile service...but now it really sucks...

Sync the throttle bodies.

this is a problem with fuel/air and or timing. when I get the pat answer from working on monsterone6's bike I will tell the DML world.

Boy, I'd love to hear your fix...

Could this theory from FAQ #8 on FIM's site have any relationship to this?

http://www.fuelinmoto.com.au/

What ECU does the 1000DS motor use?

Could this be an issue with a 5.9 ECU?

I have a stumble on my M800 at 3500 - 4000 constant throttle. It's been on the dyno 3 times. Adding fuel in that range helps a bit, but it never goes away completely and my tuner says fuel/air is already richer than he'd like to go in that section of the map.
