I found out the large screws used to hold down CB radios to their brackets work fine as a replacement for the seat cowl screws.

not sure if this has been asked or answered?

i understand that the tail light lens from the buell blast is the same...... how about the reflective piece under that? (see picture below)
Ducati of course does not sell this part separately.......

...not sure if it was here or not. oil filters, since most of us are about to winterize the bike or use it much less for commin' months! its important to change the oil NOW!!!
this is a cross reference for oil filters which suppose to fit most ducatis, I found it on-line and recently bought the NAPA power sports filter SP7013 and it works

* AMSOil SMF 132/132C this suppose to fit, but amsoil is about to release the real Mc Coy for our Ducs soon
* EMGO 10-26980
* Fram PH6019, PH6074 Fram in general has very low quality filters, not recommended
* K&N KN-153
* NAPA PS7013 this one was about $9, and better then OEM
* WIX 57013
Added * HIFLO HF153 to the list.

i needed to replace my frayed spark plug wires (they had rubbed against something for too long). the dealer wouldn't sell me wires by them selves, they wanted me to buy new coils too. (i dont know what their reasoning is behind this), so instead of forking $140 bucks for that i just made my own wires with a universal kit from autozone. it is made by msd and comes with multiple sized wires and allows you to attach whatever plug fittings you want. cost maybe $20.

Default More on OEM replacement headlight for Monsters

I just did an extensive search online for replacement Monster headlight. Here are my findings:

Suzuki SV 650 7" round headlight assembly looks closest as a drop in replacement. The SV's mounts the same way on the left/right side of the light, but the body is thicker. New ones costs $199 for the whole headlight assembly, and you will have to adapt the Monster cables to the SV headlight somehow.

Next is a place in the UK, which seems to stock the genuient 7" Duati headlight assembly, but for 77-pound each ($140US?). Only problem is this light is for the UK roads, RHD (right-hand drive vehicle). I gather that means the beam is left-biased to avoid the center of the UK roads. But if you use it in the US, the light might be pointing to oncoming traffic and illegal? Here is the link: www.erentek.co.uk/p3-760.jpg

I emailed this UK site, and learned that the Ducati headlight is made by Bosch, with the RHD part # 52020012B...now that's my first break on the case :-) Quick googling on this part number did not turn up anything...this is getting interesting...One thought is that if you don't ride at night, and need the light for the looks only, then the RHD lamp isn't a big deal.

After googling on Bosch motorcycle lights for a while, I came up with this article on Bosch H4 headlights:
http://www.ratwell.com/technical/BoschH4.html

This is my 2nd break on the case - the Bosch headlight (lens+reflector) in this article looks just like my 06 S2R Dark headlight's...definitely a Bosch. This article even mentioned a version (like the Ducati's) with the small day/park lamp...but no luck finding a part number. More quick searches on "Bosch H4 headlight" turn up lots of results in the price range of $23 to $65, all looking similar to the Monster's but without the 2nd smaller light bulb. Note this is just for the headlight lens+reflector, without the black housing or the chrome ring. It seems this light is very very common for cars.

It dawn on me that I can look up the yellow sticker on my Monster light to get a part number. I found reference to "H4", and more importantly, a Bosch part number 1305504944, Made in Czech Republic, there are other numbers but I am not sure what they mean. There is no mention of Bosch though...

Just for fun, I google "Bosch 1305504944" and got a few hits only. Again this is just for the lens+reflector. A German site sells it for 148EURO...

I stopped searching at this point (after several evenings on the computer). Here is a quick summary:

- if you need the whole assembly, and not worry about night riding, then the UK Ducati lamp is much cheaper than $375 from Ducati
- if you just need the guts (lens+reflector), there are plenty of Bosch H4 options from approx. $23 to $65, but you will have to find the one with the small day/park light, or just live without it

I hope someone can keep the search going, and locate the US supplier of this Bosch headlight assembly for a reasonable cost. Also I have not found anything on the chrome ring.

631212356402 --* rim ($100) Edit: this part no. may not be correct. If it is not, try 63121356402.
63121358147 -- glass/Lense ($25)
63121355396 -- reflector ($95)

I'm not sure what model BMW they are off of (Edit:* I'm informed by s4grrr that the headlight bits are off an R80) and you can prolly land the parts a lot cheaper than above.* If someone knows the BMW model # or can confirm the parts nos. (I'm pretty sure they're right), shoot me a pm and I'll edit the post if necessary.
