Default wind fear

First off, THANK YOU TOM10772!! Chris Boy at moto corse has a great shop and most importantly, my bike is running as well as it has in 3 years.

Second, I wonder what tips people on this list can offer about riding in the wind we've had lately, or when the Hurricane was off the coast a few weeks ago. Do the grooves on I-95 cause bikes to sort of wobble? How is traction in the rain? There have been several rides home this last month where I felt like a good gust of wind could blow me right off the road. Coming over the Julia Tuttle Causeway you can really get blasted and often broadside gusts. Am I too heavy on the bars (brap!!)?

IMO wind is the worse thing to ride in!! I will take rain and cold before the d*mn wind!!

I got caught in it several times in FL and back in AZ during sand storms. Best just to pull off the road and wait it out or get on the surface roads rather than the 95! The 95 is bad enough without those conditions!!

remember that you bike rides better than you do. in a strong wind let your bike do what it has to do don't fight it, and give your self some space in you lane so your bike can drift allittle. Other than that wind is no problem even if you have to lean over to ride straight.

Found that the addition of a steering damper (DP) helped a lot on I-95. No longer get blown around my lane and can even ride with left hand on hip (comfort) with no stability issues at all. A good addition to the bike IMO

I have never ridden a bike with a damper. I should look into it. [thumbsup]
