Default Ride Reports_Let's Hear 'em

Last Saturday, 4/19:

'33' to Lockwood Valley on through to a stop at Pine Moutain for some lunch..on to Cerro Noreste. Back the same route...
Front side of the '33' is good all the through to the Stage Coach stop, the back side reminded me of Malibu...ocassional rocks in lane, but nothing major. Lockwood Valley is still running water through most of the creek crossing spots...the entry to Lockwood is still flowing the heaviest, but not bad. There is still one spot on Lock that is pure gravel, both directions..a stretch of a about 100' or so...so be careful, signs are posted. Cerro is a dream as usual...the fast sweepers at the very end are a little bumpy, subsequently, there's a feeling of slidin around a bit...but still, the road is clean and empty...

Friday and Saturday 4/25 and 4/26:

ACH-I headed up to ACH on Friday evening about 6:30pm...Stout was still making runs...he passed me twice...at both encounters, I had some kind of fucking Spidey sense to slow down or something...my 'killer bee' pipe still blaring away at low rpms...lots of commuters heading thru AFH on their way back to the desert...so that sucked. All roads are clear and clean...

Rode Saturday am headed up at 7:30 or so...no LEO's, some cyclists climbing, couple of caravans headed to God only knows where at that time...
Rode the dickens out of ACH from the AFH turnoff, the road has suffered a little bit due to heavy equipment, it's bumpy but still fun as hell. I chilled at Newcombs for all of fifteen minutes and chose to avoid nine mile and shoot straight thru down ACH...again, Stout was coming up...but, again I had rolled off the throttle and put my halo on top of my helmet...

Rode the same day in the evening, again, 6:30 at the base...talked to 3 guys sweatin' from the trek down the hill...Freakin HOT! No LEO's to report. This was by far the most fun I have had on the road to date...I did not see one sport bike the entire trip up...matter of fact, I got to Newcombs and I was the only bike up there...never seen that before. The way down was a blast, I never get on it on ACH past the turn of for AFH...but tonight it was on...super fun.

Luca, if you try to talk shit about not posting up rides it's because I don't like you.

Carry On... [thumbsup]

I'll play:

Hopped on the HM and headed out Laurel Canyon to 134 East, merged on to the 210 East, exited Cherry and arrived at the "Auto Club" Speedway. Hot and windy out there. Had lunch at the Honda truck, hung out in the media room and watched the races. The industry is abuzz with what DMG will do to the series... It was cool to watch Pegram put the 848 on the podium.

Reversed it for the ride home. Didn't see many cops but there was a pretty intense looking forest fire in the Glendora Mtn area, burning up the mountain.

The HM isn't much fun as a slab tool. But for a Ducati, the mirrors are awesome.

Headed back out that way tomorrow with the dirt bike for some riding up in SB Forest out of Lake Arrowhead.

Have fun. Be safe...

George

Sat 4/26.....

Rode home from Spectrum...... slabbed it all the way on the 405 as I had to work.....good news is bike no lopnger smokes after the terrible service I had a Del Amo..... one bad valve guide seal replaced & valves adjusted as front cyl. closer was .60mm & the opener was .05 mm on the exhaust side & intake was .25 on the closer & .05mm on the opener. Now set @ .05mm on the closer & .15mm on the opener..... bike has never run better.... only took me several thousan dollars of upgrades @ 11,000 miles [laugh]

JC.... did you do all of those rides alone...... we'll have to hook-up for some erly GregP rides now that I have my bike back.

4/19: Rode the RST up to Ojai, had lunch at the Deer Lodge. Took the 33 to Lockwood Valley Rd, followed that to Frazier Park. It was getting late, so had to take the slab home from there.

As OP reported, there were several water crossings and the roads were pretty dirty in places. I settled into a pace that allowed me to just stay in one of the tire tracks through each of the turns, so I could avoid crossing the dirty area in the center of the lane.

Gus, glad to hear that your bike is right again...

4/25 - Rode up Old Topanga and then on Mulholland past the Rock Store. It started getting pretty hot up there, but there was no traffic and the roads were awesome. Only scary thing to report is that the last vicious turn on the top of the hill past the Rock Store (right before the straightaway that has the turnout) was completely covered in gravel... looked like maybe someone low sided or something. Fortunately I wasn't mobbing too fast and I managed to ride over it without wiping out myself. Lots of cops on Kanan though.

I then went and got new tires on the Gixxer. Whoo hoo!

4/26 - MetalDuc and I hit Malibu again and added a run on Stunt and more Mulholland. We dragged our butts out of bed early and avoided most of the heat. Good news is that some guy was sweeping up all that gravel on the turn, so the danger was past for all of the riders that came after us.

Apparently the morning ride wasn't enough for us, so we each grabbed a different bike in the later afternoon and took a little tour down Sunset to PCH. Met some squids and gave them more than they bargained for in a little race. >

Fun weekend! ;D

Headed out from Pasadena to Catalyst Suspension in Tustin at 9AM to have Tige tune up my suspension. Curious to see how the suspension set up felt I made it out to GMR around 11AM. I guess around that time the heat kept most people away. The ride was great. I only saw a handful of cyclists and bikers.

The suspension worked pretty well. The forks were a tad bit stiff. I'll probably tweak it on my own.

What a beautiful weekend!
