Default so...I failed my riding test.

So yeah I am pretty pissed at myself for this one. So I took the msf about 7 years ago. Didn't get a bike...lost my endorsement, then about 5 years ago I bought my first bike. Got a permit from Alaska. Been riding for a while with that permit. So I thought I would make it official and just take the test allready. The problem is, that circle was a lot tighter than I remember. I didn't practice because I thought it would be cake. What a tard. Now I have to practice the circle and maybe rent a 250 ninja for when I retake the test.
What I remember from the msf on the circle of doom...
- something about turning your shoulders and looking where you want to go.
-that's about it....any suggestions?
Cheers
Dan

It took me hangin' my fat a$$ off the saddle plus alot of rear brake to keep the front tire between the lines...... my instructor told me not to worry about the rear.

Ninja 250 sounds like a good choice.... try Metal Duc as well.... he has a little Yamaha 250 that's legal you could probably rent & you can go practice @ Culver City DMV on the weekends [thumbsup]

I thought the Yami was a 500? Been a while since I've seen Metal Duc though.

Sorry about the test! That sucks. I've heard those are pretty hard, actually. I took msf and got to avoid the circle of doom. Besides, when you take the msf test you have been practicing all weekend for like 10 hours... makes it a little easier. :P

I'm nudging MetalDuc on the couch right now and telling him to respond. He is fixated on this lame show on tv.

Yeah yeah more like hogging the computer so I couldn't answer.

They do call it the "circle of death" for a reason you know Sucks it turned out to be a little bit of a waste of time.

I actualy have a Yamaha 650 which was practically built for passing the test. So far it has been used by both PT33 and myself to pass the test. Unfortunately it is in need of a battery and a tune up. I am pretty sure you will want to take the test before I get around to restoring it to running condition.

Renting a bike is a good idea. Barring that the circle can be conqured on a Monster with a little practice. Just do circles in each direction until to can do them at the locks since that is pretty much what it takes to pass the test.

You have it right with turning your shoulders and looking where you want to go. Because the circle is pretty tight you will almost need to be looking over your shoulder or at least around 90 degrees to the side. Other than that practice with slipping the clutch to keep the power where you need it.

Good luck on the next test and should the Yamaha run between now and then you are welcome to borrow it.

+1 on Metalduc's ride, i used that for my test. Piece of cake. The instructor didn't even make me take the full test, she said,"you clearly go this down" and passed me. I did practice with my monster for at least 6-7 nights at the DMV for about 30 min each time or so.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think what I will be doing now is just practicing more at home here. There is a vacant lot across the street from me and I will set up a little course and just do it. Then when I schedule an appointment depending on how good I am I will either do it on the monster or just rent the 250. Also I am think about installing a 14 tooth sprocket, I wanted to do it anyways but it can't hurt. allright, take it easy thanks again for the advice.

How about taking the MSF again? 7 years is a long time and taking it again will probably help you out there on the roads. I took the written test at DMV and did the field test as a part of the MSF class. That's how I got my M license.
