Greg,

I'm in Del Rey between Marina del Rey and Culver City, just off the 90. One passenger can travel in comfort, I do have an extended cab but I remember you to be on the tall side.... you're welcome to squeeze in there, but I'm not going faster than 65 with the trailer and Willow is 90 miles from my house...

R,

Thanks for the offer. I'm trying to talk a guy in my hood into making the trip as well so I'll manage. Looking forward to getting out with some of the DML peeps.

Looking for feedback from those who have done events with TrackDaz.

They say safety wiring is 'recommended'... what stuff would they like to see wired?
I'm certainly going to do the oil filter and a few other things, but I don't want to be doing it at the track.

Any feedback on running water+water-wetter on a track day, S4 or S4R?

guidelines from the WERA rulebook:

The following item must be safety wired, or secured in a manner approved by Tech:

axles or axle nuts oil filler caps

axle caps and/or pinch bolts oil drain plug(s) removable exhaust baffles

brake caliper bolts *oil gallery plugs radiator caps

brake torque arms oil lines coolant drains

speedo and tach cables spin on oil filters/filter bolts any pressure fed lubricant line

*fork oil drain screws/bolts rear exhaust mount(s) (all)

*may be secured by silicone glue or H/D weather-strip adhesive in lieu of wiring.

Substantial gauge “R” type spring clips may be used in certain applications but must be wired to the machine. Tab washers designed to accept safety wire may be used. Safety pin style clips may be used on most items but NOT on oil drains or oil filters. A catch can shall be fitted where required or at the direction of a Technical Inspector.

Put some duct tape over all the glass/plastic and the tire wieghts, take off your mirrors, make sure you've got some decent tires and ride it like ya stole it! All the other stuff is just common stuff for a well maintained and running bike. It's like going out to the canyons without the cops or cages. There will still be some squids but that's life.

I will add, Streets is very tight and if your bike isn't pretty stiff suspension wise you will drag headers regularly. Also plan to drag your pegs out there as well. If you can adjust them set them high. I cut the ball off my kick stand as it was all chewed up the last time I went to streets.

I'm psyched to be getting back to the track. Last trip was in August . [thumbsup]

I'd wire the oil filter, I've seen them come loose on Monsters. Don't worry about the rest, Duct tape for the lights. I'd put it over a layer of blue masking tape, or else the heat from the lights is going to melt the adhesive and it'll be a pain to get off.

I'm looking forward to this. Linda, are you listening? I want to see you there! ;D

-R.

PS: Oh, and what Greg said about scraping stuff. I know you have stock pegs, don't worry about those they fold back - but do cut that silly knob off the kickstand, you'll scrape it enough even without that thing sticking out.

+1 on wiring the oil filter. You can put a large hose clamp around it and safety wire to something close. Pull your fuses for the lights so they don't bake the tape on. If you've got a rear stand, you can remove the kickstand...unless your model has some goofy kill switch wired in. Fresh tires. Sunscreen, and lots of water.

I may be racing my first supermoto at Grange that weekend. If not, I'll come join the fun.

if you do this, make sure your bike will start with the lights fuse disabled.
