You can adjust the steering stops if the controls contact the tank. Mine will just ever so slightly kiss the tank at absolute full right lock (which almost never happens)

I have the titanium wrap on the under seat sections of the exhaust. It does reduce the heat.

No one can quantify 'soul' for you, that's a personal preference thing.

But for the record, the S2r 800 actually has less horsepower than the 696.
