Default Biggest Loser...Not you!!!!

Just thought it might be kinda cool to find out exactly how much weight your mods may have shaved from your bike. I am guessing exhaust is the single largest weight savings one can perform. And, I think I have been told that shaving seven pounds amounts to an increase in one HP. So, I thought it might be kinda of cool to place my bike on a truck scale and figure what the weight savings had come out to be. Well, not as much as I had thought. Please of mods later, the bike I weighed is only 13 pounds lighter than Ducati claims it as stock. Anyone else ever curious about what they have shaved from their own bike?

Did you drain all the fluids, too?

Loose the utter on the Monster, and that drops about 50 lbs, though an MRA racer said that it drastically degrades handling.

Reflectors weigh about 10 lbs each.

Yeah well, I asked Eric down at Colo Springs Duc about that racer. Sounds like he is a legend in his own mind. Eric doesn't know him and has never heard of him. So, guess he's not quite as fast as he makes himself out to be. So, I'm not putting much weight in that argument. Anyway, just thought the biggest loser info would be kinda fun. Oh, and, my dereflecterotomy has been done long ago!

I had a monster and took the udder off, the bike didn't seem to handle any differently. But then again I didn't push it as far as one might during a race (though the cabbie into whom I wrecked might disagree ;D). I could see that it could case some degradation in handling, though. Probably very minor. By removing the udder you are moving the center of gravity up, and given that the damn thing weighs like 20+ lbs, the movement of the center of gravity is probably not trivial.

Still, it's probably not noticeable by mere mortals.

As for weight savings on my bike, I make sure to take a dump before every ride. It makes a big difference. Once I forgot and I could no longer wheelie in second. I also had to do eventually do it with leathers and riding boots in some bar. It wasn't very comfortable.

I think that is the sage advice we are all looking for!

Rest assured there is nobody on this Board fast enough to realize the difference.
