Default Genoa Motorsports Annouces its Pro Rider

We are happy to announce we have just partnered with Ricky Orlando to be our Pro Rider ( www.genoamotorsports.com ).

Ricky will provide track certification for our Club Members and their guests, and other track users not already certified, in addition to running schools at our facility. We believe this is another big step that demonstrates what we have said in the past - we have a commitment to riders (as well as drivers).

This partnership and our goal to obtain the FIM Level 2 certification (no sand pits at the turns ) will help provide a relatively safe environment for riders which should enhance your riding experience at Genoa Motorsports.

We would like to remind everyone that our membership program is open and we have been receiving membership deposits (held in an escrow account at Wells Fargo until we open). Check out our website for more membership details www.genoamotorsports.com . Please contact us if you would like to "arrive and ride" at your convenience.

Any ideas on when the track will open?

The "other" guys (Second Creek's successor track, believe it's called the High Plains Raceway) plan on opening this summer. Indeed, several organizations, including SCCA, MRA, and various brand-specific sport clubs, have tentatively scheduled events to take place there in the summer. While plans don't always pan out, they have a touch more than $2 million of the $3 million they need to build the track with minimal facilities, and have loan commitments to cover much of the remainder.

One thing that I've been curious about is the lack of transparency in the Genoa project -- at least compared to High Plains. High Plains have published their business plan and their finances on their website, which certainly adds credibility to the whole thing. Maybe I haven't spent enough time looking through the Genoa website, but I have seen no such things there.

I'm excited at the prospect of having two great tracks within a short drive of home, but it would be nice to get a more concrete picture of the progress at Genoa.

First, thank you for the questions.

One of the fundamental differences between Genoa and HPR is that HPR is a "public" effort and we are a "private" effort. Your comment on "transparency" is in part a result of this difference (there are many issues involved). As a private effort we are not obligated to publicize our business plans or other confidential information. In fact we have assured those involved (including Members) that we will maintain a certain level of confidentiality for privacy purposes. That being said, we put on our website what is signed, sealed, and delivered. I can tell you we are much farther along than what you may believe from what is posted on our website but there are many things we consider rather insignificant relative to the overall project (i.e. we already have a construction phasing schedule completed).

I think what may be tough for many of us here will be the cost. I know the exclusive country club atmosphere is what many high end customers want...

But for many of us, we are the ones that will be excluded.

That's OK with me, I live across the street from a private country club golf course. I don't belong. The club struggles, many of us can see opportunities for them to gain business but not while remaining open to members only.

As a side note it must be scary opening such a huge endeavor that relies on people to have a great deal of expendable income when we are in the
beginning stages of an economic recession.
I know I have to cut back right now.
+1 I would love a place that held open track days. I won't be buying a membership, but I'd pay for a day.

We understand the issues you raise. I think if you look at our website we are not members only. With two circuits we have one open exclusively for members and the second circuit open to groups/clubs/open test. We also note on our website that we have 20 weekends already spoken for by groups/clubs. We envision some open test/tune but it's too early to "schedule" any at this time. When we are closer to opening we will make that information available.
