Anyone want to help with my project?
so, I have 75 days left in this wonderful country :-\ But there is NO way in hell I am going to leave my Duc to the likes of one of you, so it is time to swap a frame. I have a black 600 frame that just arrived, and I need to start swapping my 900 onto it.
I am located in Sagamihara, which is about 10min north up 16 from Yokohama-Tomei Ducati.
Anyone want to play?

Re: Anyone want to help with my project?
Are you sure you don't want to will it out to me? I promise to keep it in a warm garage and never let it get rained on...always put premium gas in her, and keep up with the maintanence.
I have a baby on the way (could be any day), but if you're still working on it come March, I'd let to get out and come play.
I'm a hop-skip-and-a-jump away in Hachioji (Tama Center).

Congrats on the new addition!!
I should be still on in in March, I am going to take my time on this project. Buell tail light is on order, along with the Sport 1000 gauges. I am trying to contact Cookie1 for his tail chop kit. I am going to be working out of my storage unit about 10min drive from Costco in Hachioji, so you are right over the hill.

Heck!
Closer than I thought! I'm 10-15 minutes from Costco!
I'll PM you when I can come out and play.

Re: Anyone want to help with my project?
I'm in. Stationed in Yokosuka. Lots of underway time. But, would be happy to lend a hand when I can. Be nice to hang out with some DMLers too. I've been to Duc Yokohama once. I'd be willing to load a backpack with some tools and hop the train out that way.

Re: Anyone want to help with my project?
In general:
Fill tank with fresh gas (try and use up all of the old gas or siphon it).
Add Fuel Stabil (see bottle for amount) and run it for a few minutes.
Try to get the wheels off the ground. If it were for a long time, I'd invest in a front and rear stand. If not, I'd place wood under my tires.
If carburated, drain bowls.
I would change the oil and filter and run it once to get the new oil cycled through the engine.
Take out battery and place on trickle charger (Battery Tender).
Cover with soft sheet or bike cover.
Oh, I'd plug any place animals (mice) could get in (exhaust, etc)

Re: Anyone want to help with my project?
that sounds good Dana. i just talked to someone who stored a vehicle with the Navy and said they started it once a month. i guess i'd do everything but plug the exhaust?

I've seen them do that with cars... Not sure I'd want them starting my bike once a month. I think those lots are outside too. I'd look for a friend with a garage. Or, rent a storage space for the bike and then just trickle charge the battery at my parent's house or a friend's place (as most storage facilities don't let you use electrical).
I know there are climate controlled places in Norfolk. I'm sure there are some in SD as well. I'm just leery to let some stranger start my motorcycle monthly.
