Yes it's already 9 days in but I'm the first post for '08.

Decided I'm going to buy myself a decent helmet here, probably a Shoei X-9. I have an old Arai but I'm sick of it and want something new. These Japanese, riding around in their fashionable bicycle-style lids that wouldn't be legal in any other sane country. I'm not Japanese and I'm going to make damn sure every other rider out there knows it. I'll be the one on a real bike, not the ubiqutious fat ass 250cc scooter with the flashing lights and an exhaust popping louder than a Harley. Bought myself a pocket map book. Give me a clear day and this city is going to feel my presence. >

I bought an Arai Replica (Hayden Laguna Seca) for $400 that normally sells for $600 in the states.

I bought a Teknics leather suit on blowout (www.motorcyclecloseouts.com) a few weeks back...hopefully to be used for our base's Pocket Bike Club we are trying to get going... www.yokotamc.org

On that first site, what's the two prices they quote for each helmet? Not sure it it's reg and sale price [thumbsup] or with tax and without tax

The X-9 I saw in Ueno was around 42,000 but I only found one shop that had them. Some of the larger stores don't even sell known brands, just a lot of helmets in the $50-$100 range. I need to shop around a bit more.

As an example, the red price is the one you pay (tax included as I believe the new Japan law states you need to post the 'tax included' price).

+Y500-ish for shipping.

Not a bad deal...$400 for a new Arai! Compare that with the prices at www.kneedraggers.com!

Instead of the Shoei I decided to revive my old Arai. Tin of house paint and brush $4, new visor $44. Looks great!

Ooooo. My Simpson Vudo had to painted with a special paint. Other paints could eat away at the shell.

Negative. Tucked away in a garage in upstate NY. Maybe I'll get to race it again this summer (got a little one on the way...expecting in 2 weeks or so.)
