This topic was discussed on Motorcycle Experience TV show about a month ago. Their advice, squeeze the tank with your knees and thighs. They made a believer out of me! I also installed a set of Tech Spec tank Gripster pads. Two thumbs up and great service

Last year at about this time, I was on a bike trip to Key West with my brother. Some of the gusts going over the bridges in the Keys were enough to push you out of your lane. We had to slow down and really lean in to the wind.

Been riding every day almost a year freeway commute + over very windy high up westgate bridge Melbourne Australia. Experience is it is bloody scary at first when learning. After a while not it barely ever houses me at all. Wondered why was I so hard when started and realized I mush of been gripping the handlebar as tight as possible n scared at relaxing. When u relax and let wind take wheel a bit button straight, rip with knees as above says, look direction u want to be further ahead n all other basics it gets easier. Still little challenging if wind is nuts but alot better. If early learning stage can always pull over, calm down, have a breather before starting again.

I ride in South Florida along the coast and it's VERY windy, especially the gaps between high-rise condos along A1A. Your body will automatically make the proper adjustments, that feeling of "ohh shit" is purely a reaction and you get over it after a while.

Default Riding in Gusty wind

I decided to go for a ride last Sunday without paying respect to 20 mph wind. The wind was alright at the ground level but on bridges and elevated freeways the wind used to drag me out of the lane or on the other side of the lane.

At one point I was on a flyover which was approx 200 ft above ground and the wind at this point was more than 25 mph. It started dragging me out of the lane. I tried to apply the basic principle and avoided target fixation and didn't even look down. I improvised myself by going slow and lowering my torso towards the tank as in sport bike position along with squeezing my thighs on the tank. It worked and I got more stability and I was able to keep constant speed after that.

However I learned my lesson and will avoid riding in windy weather as much as possible.
