Default Looking for a ride tracking iPhone app

I wasn't sure exactly which forum to enter my question in so I dropped it here. I'm looking for an iPhone app that will track my rides. I have friends who run who use apps like this:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/runke...00235330?mt=8#

to track where they run. From what I gather it uses the iPhone's GPS and at intervals takes a snapshot and when you complete your run you see your trip on a map.

When I got for a long ride I usually go back later and create a personal Google Map so I can remember the route later. This is tedious and error prone. Here's an example:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...5be3b9e4c39ea6

So, I'm looking for an app that will track a ride and then I can export it to something like Google Maps (preferably). Or even if it just uploaded to a website like the running app referenced above does. I could just use the running app I suppose but was wondering if anyone has used something more specialized for bikes or cars.

Thanks!

Mcn ride logger tracks your ride on a map and speed, also tells you the speed you were doing at what point.

Quite good not sure if you can export it to google maps though.

If you want a security system in addition to mapping, the Scorpio alarm system I have also tracks rides using Google Maps and also has speeds.

Check out RunKeeper in the Apple App Store (it is a free app). It is designed for fitness activities but works great if you select "cycling" for the activity type. I found that it can work in the background on my iPhone 4 when I need to use Navigon for navigation. When the ride is completed, it even sends the data to the runkeeper.com website where you can view your ride on the map as well as see other data such as a table with speed and elevation overlaying the timing of your ride. I think the developers could easily re-package their app and sell it as motorcycle specific as it does everything I needed it to do.

The iTunes link I referenced in my original post was to RunKeeper (albeit I forgot to mention the actual app name). I didn't know they had a cycling mode. I will certainly give it a try as well as look into the other suggestions. I've done some more research on my own and found a few others. I will give a few a try and report back.

Thanks!

I use Runkeeper for my running/cycling and find it to be absolutely great. The only thing that would concern me with using it on motorbike rides is that it is a bit of a glutton on the battery. Recent updates have improved usage, but I reckon that anything over a couple of hours would be risky.

Mind you, I only use a 3G and the 4 or 4S would probably be much better.

Pirelli have an app called "Diablo Super Biker". I haven't used it much but it traces your ride on Google Maps and your speed and lean angle. I suspect the latter is done with the iPhone's tilt sensor, so may not be that accurate. At the end of the ride there are little graphs and you can check out where on the map you hit 230kph!

It's free, but you will have to search for it as I don't know how to get the hyperlinks for iTunes.
