Default s4r-t track prep checklist

Ok Folks. Fresh out of CSS, I'm headed to buttonwillow on 5/9 for my first open track day. I'm taking the S4R-T (Unless a trackbike magically appears within my budget before then ;D)

Besides the trackday provider specifics for bike prep (taping/safety-wiring/etc) what should I do to the beast to prep her? I'm currently planning on:
  • 600mi first service/sanity check (even if it's early)
  • frame sliders
  • respringing front and rear for my weight (260ish)

any tips or tricks appreciated [thumbsup]

did you ride it at CSS or use their bike?

you'll probably be a lot happier with the ride height up a bit in the back.

Ask one of your racing buddies for suggestions on track tire pressures for whatever brand tire you have.

I run 30/28ish in Michelins.

I'd take the headlight off. It's 300 to replace and only take two bolts to take off.

Do the s4rT's have a kickstand nub? If so, I'd grind that off.

Don't just get it resprung. After that, have someone set up your suspension for you. There may be someone at the track.

Think about a damper if you are willing to spend the $.

You got good, fresh rubber on it?

Their bike.

I set up sag last week on current (underweight) springs. as a result ride height is up about half an inch. Is that about right?

Will do, I'm still on OEMs, pilot powers I think?

Great tip, I'll make sure to just yank it. [thumbsup]

Is that the lil ball-on-a-rod that sprouted off of the foot of the kickstand? I'm pretty sure it just has the oblong kickstand base...

I was planning on having flight do the base suspension setup after respring, but I'll be sure to see if there's anyone at the track too. [thumbsup]

Hadn't thought of a damper. I'm pretty much planning on being a very slow wuss (), but maybe I should add it for peace of mind. :-\

Still oem with only a few hundred miles on em, all freeway

You don't have to memorize the whole track before you get there, but it might help to try to learn where the turns go and how the fast guys do it. Printout a copy of the trackmap and maybe Tigert's walkthrough. Remember that the narrators are insanely fast, so take that into account.

i imagine afm races are all in the same direction there.. wonder which one it is.. [laugh]

there's also different configurations for the track.. whether or not we use the bus stop, certain other sections i'm forgetting.. the one time i was at that track i was really effing slow cuz i could never really 'get' the track. hopefully that's not the case this time...

Curiously, they're not all run in the same direction. Begininng of the season is clockwise. End of the season is counterclockwise, often referred to as "wolliwnottub", which a coupla sections taken out for safety reasons. The result is that wolliwnottub has a 180mph back straight. ;D

Those link I gave you are for the AFM configuration, which is #13, which is what it looks like you're running that day.
