Default 2007 S2R1000 front caliper needed

It looks like I need a new front caliper. started leaking after i changed the brake fluid for the first time since I bought the bike. The bleed screw was tightened down harder than just about anything i've seen and now it's leaking after I replace it.

Anyone got the right caliper for sale?

If I have to buy them as a pair, I will.

Thanks!

There wasn't a little o ring? Can you replace just the gasket?

I didn't see one, and I'm looking at the exploded parts fiche, and I don't see any oring or gasket that goes under the bleed screw on the front calipers.

I've got a pair off my 2004 S4R if you want them cheap, I checked the part numbers and they are different, but I think that's only because they are black, and mine are gold. If you can send me a close up pic and measure the caliper bolts I can compare.

Or just use it as an opportunity to upgrade to 749/999 calipers

So, I'm just displaying my ignorance here, but what's the deal with the upgrade? This is my first Ducati, so I'm not sure what mods are generally done.

Is there a page or thread that can explain why I would change the calipers? what is different?

would I need to change rotors, too?

p.s. thanks for the offer on the calipers, but I think I'd like to stay with the black ones.

I'm still hunting around on the forum for a how to, or some details on a 749/999 caliper swap onto my s2r 1k. Anyone have any details on this?

typically what i've seen when a bleeder leaks after service on a vehicle that has not been serviced regularly is caused by corrosion, take the bleed screw out and clean up the end with some fine emery cloth and clear out the vent holes with an appropriate sized drill bit by hand. sometimes there is a bit of corrosion where the bleed screw is inserted internally in the caliper where it seals down towards the base of the hole- pipe cleaners q tips, and an aluminum pick wit a little patience can clean that up. O rings and crush washers are used where the lines meet the caliper- bleed screws are typically a friction/ pressed seal metal to metal with the wedged end of the screw pressing into the dished end of the hole in the caliper or the banjo fitting with a bled screw combined for the line.

Eric, great advice, thanks, man. I used another screw and it almost seals, if i ride it hard on the brakes, i'll get home and a bit will have seeped out. I think I need to buy a new screw, but the ducati part number 631.4.004.1A listed here is way too thick. : http://www.ducatimcparts.com/product....4.004.1A.html

I need to take the screw down to the dealer and just size match it and see what I can get.

EDIT: My dealer had the screw packaged wrong. That part number was correct.

There really isn't anything to it, the brembo's on the 749/999/Aprilia RSV are considered to be the best axial mounted caliper brembo every made, then it all went radial. They are 65mm bolt spacing, so they'll fit any bike as long as the bolt spacing matches, no need to change rotors etc. Though they go better if you match a radial brake m/c with them, then you get the full package.

Only other thing is you need new brake lines as the lines mount on the sides as opposed to the top, but perfect time for some bling brake lines then

Here's a close up of mine so you can see what I mean.

Excellent. Now time to get shopping. Want to give me an idea of what fair market price for these would be?
