FS: Ducati Performance Monoposto Seat for Monster
Hi...I just wanted to put this feeler out on a couple of Ducati forums I belong to. I'm selling one of my DP monoposto seats forba monster that are very rare and hard to find. If you're looking for one, then you know what I mean. The one I'm selling received some damage during shipping so I sent it out to a specialist for repair. During that time, I acquired a second one so I don't need both. From what I can tell by the pictures, it looks pretty good. Not only was the piece repaired, it was sanded down to removing any "yellowing" and clear coated. My plan is to post up some pictures when I get it back. I've typically see these seats sell between $700-$800. Between my purchase price and repairs, I know I'm going to loose. However, I'd like to get as much back as possible within reason. I'd like to start out asking $600. Please let me know if you're interested and I'll post up the pictures and cover all the details of the seat. Thanks...Joe

Got the seat back and it looks good. I'm giving someone dibs until end of day Monday. If I don't hear back, it's free game! If your interested, PM me your email address and I'll shoot you over the pictures and give you some background. Thanks...Joe

I've always been interested, however you've never said what bike it fits and/or any sort of pictures.

LOL...no secrets just can't post all the pics here. If anyone wants more info then can give me their email address and I'll send them the info. It fits my 04 monster 1000s, but it should work on all the older style monsters (s2r, s4r, etc). Not sure if it will fit the newer body style.

Here's the back ground on the seat. I purchased this and it was damaged in shipping. Because it wasn't too bad and these seats are extremely hard to come by, I thought it would be worth the investment to repair. Now that it's complete, I'm not sure if I'd consider it an investment, but it does look pretty.
Here's the good: the carbon fiber top skin was repaired and stripped down to remove any of the yellowing. Finally it was re-clear coated to look brand new. If your familiar with Ducati Performance Carbon Fiber pieces, then you'll know that they are not clear coated and tend have a gel coat that yellows from the sun. This piece will no longer have that problem.
The bad: The repair is pretty good, but not invisible. I want to be upfront about this. Also, the person I bought it from obviously tried to modify the underside to make it fit his bike. If you're a handy person, these mods shouldn't be a show stopper, but as is the seat needs some work before mounting. I've pointed out the areas of concern in the photos. Looks like the pin position was changed and maybe even the pin. Also the center tab that attaches to the seat is cracked. The threads where the center bolt screws into on the seat is also missing.
Again, I wanted to be upfront with this, because the guy I bought it from wasn't and I wasn't too happy. I was planning to fix this myself, but I actually found another seat while this was out for repair so I don't need this one anymore. I also figured someone else could benefit from the savings if they did it themselves. Please let me know if you have any questions. Since I have a good amount of money into this seat, I'm looking to get $600. They usually go between $700-$800.
