polishing header pipes

Hi all, was wondering if any one out there in monster land has polished there header pipes or knows someone who has done it ,would like to know if it can be done by yourself or they got someone to do it?

I didn't polish mine but got a similar effect by having them ceramic coated from Jet-Hot in silver. It lowers temperatures a bit (and they claim it improves performance) and looks good for a long time.
