Default How hard can it be?

Just going off GoldFiSH's comment that we are a Ducati Owner's Club but without the formal status. How hard would it be to be formally recognised as a D.O.C? I would seem to think that being a national club might be prohibitive, but how about a Sydney Monster Owners Club? S.M.O.C ;D

Could this be a reality or just a pipe dream?

Or is it just a silly comment/question on my behalf?

Is there any benefit to being recognised as a D.O.C?

Discuss. :P

Not sure of what is involved to make it happen.

One of the benefits is the President of the club gets invited to the world presidents meeting in Italy and all the gloss that goes with it ;D

The DML is a registered Desmo Owners Club, and Oz Monsters is a part of that, so techncially we are part of the DML DOC.

As for what is required, all the info contained in this link.

As there is already a registered Desmo club in our area (DOCNSW and the various other DOC's around the country) I would assume they would like to see if join there first....A nationwide monster club (such as the DMC in Italy) would be a potential differentiator if it was something we really wanted. Also, If I recall, the membership needs to be of a certain size, but I could be wrong on that.

To be honest, I'm not sure what value being our own DOC would actually provide to us - there would be a heap of work that went along with it for the club office bearers, as with most volunteer clubs.... Right now, we get the benefits of being a DOC without the admin!

Lets address the benefits / positives of being a member of a "club".
1. Meet people with common interests.
2. Socialise and share that common interest.
3. Make the most of advantages when people of a common interest combine, eg. discounted products.
4. Share and obtain information and knowledge.
5. Promote the interest / product to the wider community.

I am sure there may be more but thats all I can think of for now, aren't all the above things already part of the DML? I think the DML is a "club" of the 21st century.

I have in the past been involved in official clubs before, and for me there is just too much beaurocratic BS. Don't get me wrong I have met some tops people of which I am still very good friends. I just want to meet and ride with people of common ilke.
Just my opinon!

You're right once again. We don't need the shite that goes with running a club. We just want to go out and ride. [thumbsup]

Well it seems that a few more Sydney owners are coming out of the woodwork and we may have one hell of a turn out on the 31st. [thumbsup]
