Default Carbon tail indicator droop!

Hey all just got my DP carbon tail and not too happy!

Waited 3 months for the part to arrive.

Tried to fit it up tonight and found the blinkers are droopy and I also can't bolt up the tail lamp unit as the holes are too low or something. Oh and the holes didn't line up for the indicator mounts.

Any one else had this problem???

Rob

Hey Rob,

Not good, hate when something like happens.
Maybe Andy1000 can help he's just added a heap of shiny carbon including a tail piece.

Cheers
Matty...

Also have the DP CF Beer Tray. Only issue I had was the bolting of the tail light. You can't use the rubber mounts as the bolt holes are to low. So I dispensed with them and mounted the tail light directly to the CF tail and some 6 months on, all is fine.

I fitted the DP LED indicators at the same time and they fit fine.

A mate on a 620 also had the same tail light mounting issue and he cut holes in the CF so he could use the rubber tail light mounts. You can't see the cut outs with the light mounted.

The finish on mine is superb. Just a pity about the mounting holes......

Hey Rob

Mine isn't the DP tail , I got the carbonworld one which is very thin and veryyyyyy flexible. The standard indicators flapped up and down quite a lot while riding so I braced the indicators to the frame under the carbon and all is good now

Thanks all! ;D

I was looking at the standard tail and there is slots cut in the corners so the tail lamp doesn't fowl the part. I may have to drill some holes in the carbon unit the allow room and a plus also is there is a place for the water to drain away. [thumbsup]

Thinking last night I am going to get some aluminium and some fibreglass. I am going to make some braces to hold the indicators up. This also should stop the flapping too. [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

The only thing that pisses me off is you pay top money and the job is only half completed! >

Lucky I have the patience and the ability to improve the product.

My first thought was to glass up the back of the area to stiffen it , then i was going to go with a small fabricated aluminium bracket coming off the indicator bolt attaching to the frame. However what was intended to be a temporary quick fix seems to be perfectly adequate. I layed a few layers of double sided tape (to get the distance right) onto the end of a plastic standoff block and just zip tied it to the frame. The tape prevents the indicator flexing up and the block itself stops the downward flex. Works fine , is simple and easy.
Ignore the dirt from the jenolan caves ride! Matty I swear i'll wash it this week!
