Yeah quite hopeless up here for organising rides, unlike their Beemer cousins. [cheeky]
I got invited on a mini safari with the local QLD BWW club as I know a few people in the club.
I am happy to say I was one of the youngsters as the average age was well into their 50's.
Good on em I say, at least they are out there and a few on GS series in the bush as well.
Left Friday morning and rode from Moggil down Ma Ma Creek then have no idea as they were navigating off their GPS. We rode every back rode down to Inverall where we stayed for the night.
Had a lot of fun out there and no

olice: to be seen.
Almost ran out of fuel which they all found amusing as their GS Beemers have big tanks and much better crap road compliant suspension.
Yesterday went over to Guyra (froze) for breaky then up to Tenterfield, then east on Bruxner Highway, lots of twisties and then turned north at Tabulam for the run on a very twisty, rough patch of road to Woodenbong.
This is the roughest road I have ever ridden on a road bike. Enormous potholes a meter wide.
Throw in very tight, wet , undulating road and a rainforrest section to boot.
Enjoyed it though as you had to pick your lines very carefully and we were on it as I had to be home by 5.00pm.
Woodenbong gets you to the Summerland Hwy then to Rathdowny and home.
Road conditions were slightly wet as weather was not good most of the time, but not heavy.
Got to ride a R1200GS just like Ewan and Charlie rode on Long Way down and I admit was impressed. Very comfy and grunty but handles very well for that type of bike.
In the tight stuff the monster is much better, but elsewhere ..... you get the idea.
All in all 1200K's in the 2 days and my back and arse need reconditioning.
And why am I telling you this???
Because I am going to organise a similar 2 day ride (leaving Friday again) and anyone here is welcome to come along.
I will be eliminating the longish open boring sections so it will be based on the terrain monsters love.
I also know where the servo's are and I must say it gave me the shits thinking of fuel stations all the time. Anyway I know where there is fuel and where not on some of the isolated roads.
Stay tuned for updates.
You up for it Paul? Will you come if I have a R1200GS? [laugh] thinking........
cheers N (pete)
