Default Swingarm Shims Anyone??

Anyone had the need to adjust the shims in their swingarm pivot?? ???
If so, did you find any alternatives to the stock shims?? [thumbsup]

i've never needed to adjust the swingarm shims in any of my bikes, can i ask why yours need adjusting???

Not mine, but I pulled the arse end out of MyLittleDucs 7fiddy (70,000K) to check and grease the bearings and found it has a bit too much side play in the arm. ;D
Everything else was fine though. [thumbsup]

that's a bit odd, the needle bearings that the swingarm axle pivot on are lubed by the oil in the engine, and when i had mine apart it looked like the bearing was inside the case a little and the shims are there as a mating surface for the swingarm to pivot against. so there's nothing to wear, at least i don't there's anything that should wear. the swingarm isn't cracked is it?

The permitted side play is .1mm and the bike has a bit more than that, so I will have to get some shims which come in .2mm and .1mm and go only in the right hand side of course as the other side is set for chain/wheel alignment. ;D
I didnt think people would have done this too often, so I guess its off to the dealers.

Yup!! I've been on a couple of sites for other bikes and this is by far the best, particularly for info regarding our chosen toys [thumbsup] ;D
And of course the variety and quality of shitehangeronnerers and stirrers that frequent these esteemed pages, (Hehehe!! Now THAT will be likely to start somthing??) : ;D :-* Snigger
