Default So i am riding up High St, adjacent to Ohio State Univ......

So, i roll up to these dudes on bikes. I'm like, hey, you all are on bikes and i am on a bike perhaps i roll up to the last one out of 8 of them and give a nod, and roll on. Standard procedure, right?

Nope. That was not the case.

We pull into 7-11/Taco Bell and start chatting. All of a sudden i am the focus of the chat. "Hey man, that shit is tight!"

(I was about to joke and say, "Hell yeah it's tight, I tightened every single hex bolt and every single nut on this bastard before i took it out!" .........

However, i was absolutely certain that this is not what they were talking about. It was a bunch of dudes on early model Kawi's, a '99 Katana, a couple of late model CBRs (with the requisite floozy, they were cute too with nice fannies, never hurts to see a fanny on the raised back seat of a CBR), and one dude with an '07 TL1000.

Seriously, they were all nice bikes, clean and "tight," as they meant it. But for some reason they were focused on me.

I was on an all black '06 Ducati 999s Testastretta and i was suddenly the talk of the town, well, village.....if you will.

It was kinda cool, and i rolled with the punches as any of you would do and then went in to 7-11 to buy a 20oz MtnDew. It was quite refreshing after being roasted by the 999 motor while putzing around in traffic along the busiest street of a Big Ten college.........enrollment just exceeded 55k.

Some guy asked me about the exhaust bing tucked under the seat......"hey man, is that hot ass right there?"

Oh no, not at all (as i sighed in relief from dismounting the bike). I talked about the CF Termis that you could put your hands on after putzing around like i was. (Do that shit with stainless steel, MF, and see what happens!......i didn't say that either).

He touches the CF part of the exhaust and promptly removes his hand like we're trained to do if we know something is hot. I said, "No, man, put your damn hand on it......you can hold it there until this street shuts down!" (High street never shuts down.....that was the point and he realized it)

He put his hand on it and held it there for an abnormal amount of time....given the knowledge that it was supposed to be hot.

He says, "Man, that shit is tight!"

I was like, "yeah, i guess it is."

I wondered over to the line of bikes and set out some messages of praise and admiration. They really were clean, "clean" and "tight." That is CLEAN: no dirt, CLEAN: only the basics and some aesthetics, and TIGHT: looked cool.

As i was leaving, one guy yelled, "Alright Ducati man." Giving yet another compliment for the sexy 999. I had already turned around and slung my right leg over.....smiling the whole way.

Spring is here, that is all i can say.

p.s. Let's ride, fools!!!!!

they were cute.....not cute, trashy like you see on some bikes, but cute/proper....like they put on a pair of jeans after getting home from their office job.

i dig it.

No helmets, though. Only the TL1000 dude was wearing a helmet.

I enjoyed your story a lot. Then again, I don't know how a story about motorcycles at a 7/11 in the midwest could be terribly wrong. Fun stuff.

Shortly after buying my S4RS, ok its been about a month and a week since my wife let me buy it and its been 9 days, 11 hours and 42 minutes since I left it parked under the covers in the garage, I was out putting on the break in miles. I stopped at the BP in London and was enjoying a Sugar-Free Red Bull while admiring the day. These young fellas (I say young cause at 48 everyone seems to be looking younger than me all the time) pull up and take a hard look at me and the Tri-Colore Duc. They walk in and begin to chat with the store bunnies. Then the group of them are nose pressed againest the window of the store looking at the bike, then me then the bike. One walks out and goes "hey nice bike" "yea thanks Mate" "Ducati huh," "Yea MAte"...."Who makes that"....

"uh...Ducati"..."oh...I am a harley guy myself, but nice bike all the same"

Eh! what can you say!
