White 848
On my way to Muay thai, that pretty black 749 dark that use to park on the corner of 27th and 7th ave (he/she since moved that bike onto the sidewalk in the middle of the block) dissapered, and just a few yards away was a white 848, fresh off ducati soho, no plates yet, only paper. However, sad to say, he already had a ticket slapped on his seat. Its such a bullshit thing that cops do, scooters can be left on the sidewalk, but actual motorcycles? nope.
the UPS man who delivers to that area of the block on a regular basis said the black 749 got ticketed for ~800 bucks (or so the cop giving the ticket said), no license plate.
so just watch out. the cops are smartening up, i think its time to cover my vin number too.

Why not stop parking on the sidewalk? IMO, sidewalks are for pedestrians, baby strollers and little kids on bicycles, not parking for motorcycles and scooters. Why fuel the fire...just saying.

Re: White 848
I dont park on sidewalks. My problem is, there is NO WHERE to park between 14th street and 59th street. Every block is a commercial only zone. They should at least allow 1 spot on the corner of each block for motorcycles/cars. I sat on my bike today from 5:30 to 6pm and saw a few meter maids walk by me. its fucking riduculous. Why should i have to pay $20 to put my bike in a lot to get of and grab a soda?
The Ducati 749 use to park on the corner of 27th and 7th for a while (in fact i think someone here took a pic of it and posted it up here) and the UPS man has actually said, he saw that bike get ticketed earlier last week, which is why he started parking on the sidewalk.
I asked around again, and it turns out, he is a guy training at Fight House, the same place where i train for Muay Thai. small world. 3 ducatis on 1 block. I cant wait for a new mayor.

Sorry for the treadjack Kui, but how do you like Fight House? I plan on swinging by that place, it's close to work, within the next week but the inside scoop would be appreciated.

If I were in your situation (which I probably will be soon enough), I'll stick to either the MTA, or a bicycle to get around town. It's not worth it to me to chance getting more tickets or having my bike so far away that I couldn't keep an eye on it throughout the day.
With Spring here and all the fair weather riders starting to creep out of the woodwork, it'll be open season on anything on 2 wheels in the city soon enough.
btw, watch out for those elbow uppercuts and hook kicks... they'll get you good!

yea, i plan my trips accordingly 75% of the time, the train is better. But around brooklyn, or to less business areas of Manhattan, Upper west side/east side then ill ride. Transfering to city college soon, so i might need to pick up a rat bike. Trains cost to damn much for the amount of getting around i do. I just started walking about 50 blocks a day to save on train $. :'(

If you move onto the intermediate course, then it goes from 25-30 people on some nights for beginners(somenights its as few as 12) down to 4-12 people for IM. Thats where you start honing your skills because the groups are so small. You can always pick on the senior guy to give you some tips and watch you. I always try to get there an hour before to warm up.
