Hmmmmm......
I will not name names here.
however, I'm not getting a good vibe from the shop currently in possession of my bike.
- can't seem to get a written parts list / estimate due to the inability to use / read email. Presently waiting for a fax.
- my only contact is - and I hate to say it like this - a kid.
- they had 5 crashed bikes show up on Friday and Saturday, so I'm just a number... and probably fall below some race bikes as well...
- to pull the crankcase cover to see what may be wrong with my gearbox.. they MAY be able to get to it next week sometime to make an assessment.
So to answer everyone's questions about the status of my bike...
I don't know >
I posted in the general forum about what a gearbox repair may be, and Howie was quick to point out that it's likely out of alignment and not broken.
I kinda want to get an assessment, then get it back before the $$$ really flows.
Just felt I had to share.

Re: Hmmmmm......
OK - got the parts list
Headlight and assorted parts - $460
Handlebar - $90
Gearchange lever - $78
Labor - 4 hours at $85 per
Time to consider plan B
...and this doesn't even begin to address the gearbox.

Re: Hmmmmm......
OK, plan "B" in full swing.
Have a line on a new handlebar, a new headlight, and a PM sent for a lift.
Onward!!! [thumbsup]

Re: Hmmmmm......
T-
Whatever the reason may be... I'm sure every shop is super crazy busy right now but like I told you that day - those guys are solid. They took care of me w/o evening knowing me at first and went over and above what they were supposed to do... they didn't charge me for the extras either.
As far as plan B, say the word and I'm there to with tools in hand to help. As or space... I'm sure Jake wouldn't mind if we had a Monster party in that garage... I've still got spare parts too, stock bars too so just lemme know.

Re: Hmmmmm......
OK - Still no idea what's wrong with the gearbox. Nick seems to think it's one of the stamped steel connecting bits between the shifter linkage and the gearbox itself. Shouldn't be too bad.
If that's what it is, and it's not too bad, I'll have them do it, then get the bike back to do the cosmetic stuff myself.
If it IS bad - I may have to either go through insurance or just sell off the parts and give up on the sport. I'm in a bit of an intermediate term pinch.

I do not like this option. Talk to us and we will see what we can pull off.
