Default My Friends...

I realize it has been a long while since I have posted here. In fact, so long, that the changes at the DML have taken effect, the last time i was here they were rumors on the horizon.

That said, i don't know whom of you all are still around, or who may have crossed and/or shared paths as mine, but i needed to get this out.

My rottie was diagnosed with cancer last week.

it was pretty far along, and there were no realistic treatment options that could give him a life worth living. I said my final goodbyes on Wednesday.

I know i made the right choice, as he is not hurting anymore, but i am in agony, and i miss him more than these words can reproduce.

Yesterday would have been his 8th birthday, for what its worth.

Here's to you, big boy...I love you, Ben...

Bill

Bill, I'm sorry for your loss. We're down from 4 dogs to 3 now. Every time one goes, the loss is as just as you described. Our most recent loss was Oreo, a tough son-of-a-b!tch pit bull/blue healer mix - man I miss him. We had him cremated and his ashed sealed in a wooden box, which we just can't bring ourselves to bury. I know you've heard it all before - grieving's good. Soon the memories of the good times take over. So, Happy Birthday Ben - say hey to Oreo for me!

Very sorry for your loss. I lost one back in December very unexpectedly. We were waiting for a call from the vet to pick him up, but they called and said we needed to sign papers to put him down. I believe you did the right thing.

Bill, sorry for your loss. We got our first rotti a year ago. And I cant imagine what it would be like t lose here. 2 days ago we also lost our little cat - Milney. So in some ways we can understand your pain.

It's tough but you did the right thing. He's in a good place, pain free and will always be with you.

Take care

James

I know how you feel.

Dogs can be better friends than people.

Been there Man. Had to put Jake down 2 years ago last Christmas. We spent over $7k trying to save him but in the end there were no solutions......I would have happily spent more to save my awesome dog.

Gave him a last meal of sorts, a huge steak which he practically inhaled then took him to the vet. He jumped out of the truck like he always did wagging his tail and sniffing around in his very weakened condition. We said good bye and it was the second hardest day of my life. (The first was my father, who died in a construction accident.)

I still miss him and always will.
