AMA did not allow 1200cc watercooled twins in Superbike class until a couple of months ago, too late for Ducati to create a team for it. Two years ago was the last year that Ducati had an AMA Superbike team (Ducati 999R). AMA Formula Extreme class allows 850cc watercooled twins and thus Ducati supports the Larry Pegram team in that class. There is information that Boulder Motorsports (privateer team) will have a 1098R in AMA Superbike by the Utah race at Miller Motorsports Park!
World Superbike (different from AMA Superbike) revised its Superbike class last year, in time for Ducati to create a team - much more interesting racing there.
