I have a customer thats a douche bag.

Problem is.... douche bag buys stuff from me. lots of stuff.

Douche bag is a/was a general contractor/superintendant.

We no longer take his checks, so now, he plays with other peoples money.

Hundreds of stories of how he has cheated his customers/clients.

Two weeks ago, he calls and asks for a quote on some things. We work up a price and fax it to him. He in turn sends that on over to the person (who will now be know as dumb ass with money d.a.w.m.) who hired him.

On Monday I got a check in the mail for the exact amount needed.

I called d.a.w.m. and got a lil more info needed to run the check. She gave it no problem.

I then called the douche bag and told him we were now running the check, and I would inform him as to when the items would be ready for pick up. No problems on his end.

I then ran the check. No problems.

I then called d.a.w.m. and told her all is ok. No problem.

I then call douche bag and tell him that he can now pick up all his product. No problem.

30 minutes later, douche bag calls and says he needs to change the order. big problem.

This has happened in the past, and best I can figure, douche bag is working for a few different people, and is using one persons money to buy product for another persons project.

So..... I call d.a.w.m. and tell her that douche bag has changed the order at the last minute. She knows of no changes , and tells me that she will have to talk to her partner ( aka husband) and they will call me back when they get to the bottom of this, and to put a hold on everything.

No calls back yesterday

No call back this morning.

Douche bag sent his goons over to pick up his order. Sorry Charlie.

Douche bag calls pissed.... d.a.w.m. calls confused.

An hour on the phone with d.a.w.m. and douche bag.... everybodys pissed....stupid, and I'm losing money because people can't pull thier heads out of ass's.

douch bag sounds like a guy i worked for once. in fact, he sounds like the reason that i got out of the construction business over 15 years ago. not only was he playing with clients money, he was playing with my pay to boot

Pretty simple solution:

Call d.a.w.m. and explain to her that it is your company policy that whenever a "contractor" changes the list of approved items that the payer authorized that requires the cost of the items to increase past a specific percentage, you MUST call the payer and verify those charges.

Tell the d.a.w.m. that you have had "contractors" in the past change orders after the payer had verified one amount, and then those extra items that were charged to the payer were not used for the payers work, and went to location unknown.

Make sure you tell the payer that you don't believe that the "contractor" is doing anything improper, but that you would much rather not have to explain in the future that the "contractor" requested additional items that the payer did not authorize.

I'd tell d.a.w.m. that since it's her check, that her stuff is in and she needs to come pick it up.

The trick has been not to bad mouth the douche to his employer, or to tell him to go fuck himself, or make the d.a.w.m. feel stupid.

The solution is simple...to those with a brain.

The problem is.... she (d.a.w.m.) just writes the check.... husband has another job outside of the construction industry... and they both rely on a guy who will fuck them without hesitation. (neither really has a clue)

Telling d..a.w.m., that because she wrote the check...she is my customer, her superintendant is not...does not make sense to her. I told her quite a number of times.... if you want mr douche bag to order and pick up whatever he wants and dont care what he's doing... I will be more than happy to do that for you. You tell me what you want....it's your money. Just be sure to give mr douche cash because he has no credit here. Until then, unless you tell me different, by law, I can only deal with you, see'n how you signed the check.
